The art project

As “artist-in-residence”,  my proposal is to paint and draw flowering native species.  I have been learning botanical illustration for about 5 years (part-time, on weekends and at art schools).  I work in both watercolour and graphite, and I have also enjoyed the clean lines of stippling with ink.

When I discussed the high-humidity environment of Maatsuyker Island with my teacher Barbara, and my concerns for the preservation of the watercolour paper, she suggested I try using acrylics and canvas.
